Getting fit is one of the most popular resolutions made by vast multitudes of people with the passing of each New Years holiday. While it is a noble and worthwhile goal, it will only be as effective as your ability to stick with it. Developing new habits isn’t an easy task in general, but a new exercise routine is one that can potentially be, well let’s face it, not so fun. That can make it especially difficult to keep going. All those pictures of fit models may be inspiring but if you start your new fitness routine haphazardly then you are setting yourself up for a much more difficult journey. - You will experience better sleep: Your body will need more rest to recover from the excess energy you spend and this will help you maintain a more consistent sleep schedule with more quality sleep than you may have previously been getting.
It’s Exercise Time, Not Happy Hour
You have a new goal in mind and have mapped out a plan. That’s great! Unfortunately you are now finding it hard to reschedule your daily life around the set hours of a gym and, as a result, you’re thinking about setting up the basics at home so exercise can happen on your own terms and in your own time. Now you’re good to go with your own home gym. You workout on your own time and your own terms. Keeping everything on track by yourself will require that your space be organized. - Keep your equipment organized. You will save both time and frustration if you are not constantly hunting around for a specific weight or running off to another room to grab a towel.
- Clutter is a distraction in any aspect of your life so keep things neat. Fold the clean towels before you put them in your cabinet. Place small pieces of equipment on a rack to keep them looking tidy. Don’t drape laundry on the treadmill or stationary bike. Clean up anything that will distract you and possibly derail your motivation.
Great bones are the key to success whether it be a house, an business plan, or your own home gym. If the foundation isn’t solid then the rest will just end up falling apart. Make your home gym a success by setting it up right the first time.
